Introduction

The University of Aberdeen's Leadership in Professional Settings framework is designed for those involved in the delivery of Children’s Services who are interested in developing their leadership and management skills.

A menu of university-based modules will encourage participants to engage in leadership development opportunities provided by local authorities and other employers. The University modules combine theoretical study with practical application in a participant’s own professional settings. Courses are suitable for participants who work in Scotland, the UK and overseas settings.

Flexibility is the key feature of the framework.

The information provided here is extracted from a University booklet on the Leadership in Professional Settings Programme. For more detailed information about the programme, download the full booklet.

Funding & Applications

The CPD (Schools) Team has set aside funding to support a limited number of people from Aberdeen City schools in studying one or more of the above modules.

If you are interested in registering to study one of the currently available modules, you should in the first instance complete an Award Bearing Course Application (ABC1) Form, and send it to the CPD (Schools) Team at Summerhill.

When you have received confirmation of sponsorship, you should then complete the University's Application Form and Choice of Module/Venue Form, and return these to the University.

Please note that Local Authority sponsorship can only be granted on a module by module basis; if you are provided with sponsorship to study a module there is no guarantee that we will be in a position to sponsor you to study any subsequent modules. Separate applications must be made for each subsequent module studied.

If you have previously completed one or more modules in this programme, and would like to apply for sponsorship to study an additional module, you should complete an Application for Continued Sponsorship (ABC2) Form, and send it to the CPD (Schools) Team at Summerhill.
