What is Online
Interactive Learning? Online Interactive Learning (OIL) is a new
system which has been purchased by Employee Development, the Council's corporate
training team. The primary function of OIL is to provide employees across the
Council with opportunities to undertake online training. A range of e-learning
courses are available on OIL and Council employees (with the permission of their
line manager) are free to enrol on any of these courses and to study them at a
time that suits them, from any internet connected computer. More e-learning
content will be added to OIL over time, and there is no charge to schools for
using any part of the system.
The latest updates on the
e-learning opportunities which are available via OIL can be found on The Zone.
If your computer is connected to the corporate network, click
here to access these pages, or to find out about accessing the Zone via the
web, click here.
Online Booking
System OIL also incorporates
an online booking system for face to face courses, and this system is now
available for use by staff in schools to request a place at any of the
Authority's twilight CPD courses.
By logging on to OIL and
clicking the Register button next to the course of your choice, you can
instantly book your place at the course, without having to complete the form on
the course descriptor. OIL will automatically send you a confirmation of your
booking by email, and your Head Teacher or CPD Coordinator will receive a copy
of this email.
The
online booking system is available only for twilight courses; for daytime
courses, where applicants may require cover to attend, a head teacher's
signature is needed, and applications for these must therefore be made by
completing the form on the course descriptor and posting or faxing this to us in
the usual way.
You
should seek permission from your Head Teacher or CPD Coordinator before
applying to attend any course.
For instructions on using
the online booking system in OIL, see the
Getting Started Guide.
User names & passwords
Details of the user names and initial passwords
allocated to employees were sent by letter to head teachers and CPD
coordinators on Friday 8th February 2008.
Employees for whom an
email address was supplied to us should also have received a notification
email advising them of their user name and password; if you have not received
such an email please see your Head Teacher, CPD Coordinator or School
Administrator who will be able to give the information to you.
Getting Started Guide
An updated Getting Started Guide for OIL, which includes instructions on
using the online booking system for face to face courses, will be sent to
schools at the start of the new session. You can also
download a copy of the guide
from here.
Downloading Flash
Player
|
To take full
advantage of the various on-line courses available through OIL, you need
to install a utility called Adobe Flash Player. The player enables your
browser to present animated content, ask questions and record answers.
The content of our on-line courses will not work properly without it.
To install Adobe
Flash Player, please click on the following link:
Flash Player Install (suitable
for users of Windows 2000, XP and Vista).
It doesn't take
long to install. Simply follow the prompts. When asked if you want to
Run or Save the File, click on the option to Run it. You will then be
asked if you want to Run the Software. Click on the Run option again.
When finished, click on Close. |
Any Further
