Aberdeen's Reading Bus – the first of its kind in the country – was officially unveiled at a spectacular ceremony at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday 31st August.
Hundreds of school pupils and special guests gasped as the wraps finally came off the custom-built bus. The bus was covered with a silver cloth until the launch at 10.45am, when Balamory's bus driver Edie McCredie, played by actress Juliet Cadzow, stood in front of the single-decker Reading Bus to tell the story of its incredible journey – from an idea right through to a reality.
Award-winning Scottish author Debi Gliori was the first person to read a story on the bus, while singer Fiona Kennedy sang a special Reading Bus song – to the tune of the Northern Lights of Aberdeen - to mark the occasion.
