ALCOHOL - IT'S YOUR CHOICE

A pack of short films and facts has been developed by a group of 16 to 24 year olds for their own age group, which raises many of the issues around moderate drinking, and around the drinking that people do who drink to get drunk.

The pack is available, free of charge, to all workplaces, colleges, universities and secondary schools in Aberdeen.

THE DEAL

Every secondary school in the UK and Ireland has received a pack from Samaritans to help pupils deal with emotional knocks.

It follows research for the charity by Oxford University, which showed that one in 10 teenagers had self-harmed.  The DEAL (Developing Emotional Awareness and Learning) pack includes lesson plans and a DVD - designed to overcome the stigma of asking for help.  More info >>

Live Wire Productions A Scottish mobile theatre in education company, based in Aberdeen, promoting health improvement, citizenship and environmental issues through the medium of the dramatic arts.
Young Voice A website which "makes young people's views count".  The database holds detailed information from over 7000 young people.  They produce some interesting resources too.
I Don't Want To Be Like That On-line resources from Fablevision to be launched on 21 January 2002.  They are aimed at P6 and P7 and contain a full length animated version the Theatre in Education drugs awareness touring show and interactive follow-up notes for teachers.
