The Commission on British Muslims and Islamophobia, along with many others have long been concerned about the tragic events in the USA and other terrorist activities.

They are concerned that reporting of incidents in some of the media could create an atmosphere in which many Muslims feel intimidated or have received verbal abuse and threats.  They are particularly concerned about the effect that this may have on children and young people – Muslim and non-Muslim - both generally and while at school as a result of any distorted portrayal of Islam and Muslims.

In Aberdeen City, we are committed to developing an atmosphere of respect for and inclusion of, all people, regardless of race, culture, or religion, and to developing a climate in which diversity is valued.  We ask everyone to continue to be vigilant for any suggestion of intimidation or verbal abuse to our young people.
