| Schools Health Education Unit (SHEU) |
The Schools Health Education Unit, which originated and developed within
the University of Exeter, aims to provide services that promote objective debate in
communities about the best ways to serve and educate, principally young people, about
health and social issues, and to foster co-operation between professionals in education
and health, and between adults and young people. There are some teaching materials
on the website. |
| Developing Patient Partnerships |
A charity that runs health education campaigns to help people to manage
their own health and to know how best to use primary health care resources. Some of
their campaigns relate to young people. Among these is the Get Sussed initiative which is being launched in
time for the run up to the Christmas party season to offer boys the chance to find out
more about common health issues including sexual relationships, drugs and alcohol through
the on-line Get
Sussed game The game encourages boys to test their finger power in
a three level fighting challenge whilst providing a portal to on-line information offering
help and advice about common teenage problems and worries. |

| Healthy
Respect |
Healthy Respect is one of four National Health Demonstration Projects
backed by the Scottish Executive to tackle priority areas in Scottish people's health as
identified in the Government White Paper "Towards a Healthier Scotland."
One of these priority areas is the sexual health of Scotland's young people, the focus of
the work of Healthy Respect. |

A WHO document mainly based on results of the international
survey "Health Behaviour in School-aged Children" (HBSC) and on other relevant
international studies. It focuses on the implications of scientific results for
health policy in developed countries. The target groups are politicians and experts,

HELP covers the span from pre-5 to S5 and S6 and is offered as national
advice to schools on planning and implementing effective practice in health education. |

schools |
PSE resources about smoking. Lessons and materials can be
downloaded. Lessons are stand-alone units of about 60 minutes and topics can be used
in pick and mix fashion. |
