MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF 9 May 2002 at
Summerhill Education Centre

1 Channel 4 initiatives and resources relating to PSE Ann Fleck from Channel 4 spoke to us a bout the wide variety of resources available from Channel 4 Education.  She also demonstrated the extensive website and gave us the opportunity to explore its use.   Many thanks to Ann for her time and assistance.
2 Development of the curriculum in Aberdeen Brian Wood, HT of Hazlehead Academy,  seconded as Curriculum Manager (Secondary), spoke to the group about the work he has done in developing a draft curriculum strategy for Aberdeen City.  The group were urged to discuss this in their Guidance teams back at school and to offer any feedback to Brian by the end of September.  Thanks to Brian for his clear and informative presentation.
3 How to be an unsung hero Tina Stockman (Harlaw Academy) described to us the ABBS project she is involved in.  Not only was it interesting, innovative and exciting, but was also an award-winning project.  Thanks to Tina for her work that has obviously benefited young people at Harlaw, and also for her description of the project to us.
4 AOCB There was only a brief time available for mention of  National developments and Aberdeen developments related to Guidance/PSE.  These would be discussed at the next meeting.
